Art. Climate. Activism. We want to become activist because activism describes an active behaviour that works against passivity.
We want to become artistically active together and develop an activist action | intervention | motivation in the context of the climate crisis. A variety of methods and perspectives will help us to engage critically with activist art. Various experts from the fields of research, artistic activism, care and human rights will help us in joint research sessions to plant the basis for our action on the scientific ground of facts and let it flourish.
We want to work together on how to implement - how can we use our privileges and special expertise to create synergies - create publicity and address the wounded points of our immediate environment?
Our aim is to translate the powerlessness that can arise from anger or being overwhelmed in a social context into collective, constructive, artistic action. Our stage for this will be the public space, where we, as actors, will take activist methods by the hand and „get the work of the seminar rolling“.
In the context of our block seminar, we will network with the seminar || Klasse Klima @ Bauhaus Uni || in Weimar, find a common social context, share what we have learned so far, examine it, overturn it and develop it anew. On one weekend each in May and June we will focus on working as a group, asking questions, getting to know each other, exchanging ideas. A first meeting will open up less space for theory and more for personal sharing of experiences brought along. At the second meeting, Klasse Klima and Klasse Klima @ Bauhaus Uni will come together and put what we have collected into new contexts.

Kunst. Klima. Aktivismus. Wir wollen aktivistisch werden, denn Aktivismus beschreibt ein aktives Verhalten, das der Passivität entgegenwirkt.
Wir wollen gemeinsam künstlerisch aktiv werden und eine aktivistische Aktion | Intervention | Motivation im Kontext der Klimakrise entwickeln. Eine Vielfalt von Methoden und Perspektiven wird uns helfen, uns kritisch mit aktivistischer Kunst auseinanderzusetzen. Verschiedene Experten aus den Bereichen Forschung, künstlerischer Aktivismus, Pflege und Menschenrechte werden uns in gemeinsamen Recherchen helfen, die Basis für unsere Aktion auf den wissenschaftlichen Boden der Tatsachen zu stellen und gedeihen zu lassen.
Wir wollen über Gemeinsam, daran arbeiten wie wir uns in der Umsetzung – wie können wir mit unseren Privilegien und besonderen Fachkenntnissen Synergien entstehen lassen - Öffentlichkeit schaffen und die verwundeten Punkte unserer unmittelbaren Umgebung adressieren?
Unser Ziel aus der Ohnmacht, die aus Wut oder Überforderung in einem gesellschaftlichen Kontext entstehen  kann, in kollektives, konstruktives, künstlerisches Handeln zu übersetzen. Unsere Bühne dafür wird der Öffentliche Raum sein, in dem wir als Akteur*Innen an die Hand genommen von aktivistischen Methoden die entstandene Arbeit des Seminars „ins Rollen bringen“.
Im Zusammenhang unseres Blockseminars werden wir uns mit dem Seminar || Klasse Klima @ Bauhaus Uni || in Weimar vernetzen, einen gesellschaftlichen gemeinsamen Kontext finden, das bisher gelernte teilen, prüfen, umwerfen und neu entwickeln. An jeweils einem Wochenende im Mai und im Juni werden wir uns darauf konzentrieren als Gruppe zu arbeiten, uns Fragen stellen, kennenlernen, austauschen. Ein erstes Treffen soll weniger Raum für Theorie und mehr für persönlichen Austausch über mitgebrachte Erfahrungen eröffnen. Beim zweiten Treffen werden wir Klasse Klima und Klasse Klima @ Bauhaus Uni zusammenkommen und das Gesammelte in neue Kontexte setzen.

Klasse Klima is an open, autonomous and interdisciplinary group of students and teachers of the University of the Arts Berlin (Universität der Künste Berlin). It started as a gathering of students of the Media Department of UdK Berlin that voiced commonly shared fears facing the climate crisis and a sensed lack to share, reflect and act upon those concerns within their own institution. Klasse Klima’s aim is to politicize our university, teachers, and students towards the facing climate crisis. Within our own university, we aim to bring the UdK Berlin as a public institution forward to clearly position itself in the struggle of the climate crisis and to remodel its own structures. We want to design and art teaching and practice react to and act upon the climate crisis. Furthermore, Klasse Klima wants to remodel current methods of hierarchical teaching and apply a democratic, communal learning experience where responsibilities and contributions are shared in its seminars. Die Klasse Klima ist eine offene, autonome und interdisziplinäre Gruppe aus Studierenden und Absolvent*innen der UdK Berlin und anderer Hochschulen Deutschlandweit. Ziel ist es, unsere Universität und ihre Studierenden zu politisieren, die Klimakrise in Lehre und gestalterische Praxis zu übersetzen, sowie die UdK Berlin als Institution zu einer öffentlichen Positionierung und dem Umbau ihres eigenen Stoffwechsels zu bringen. Klasse Klima möchte die hierarchischen Unterrichtsmethoden umgestalten und eine demokratische, gemeinschaftliche Lernerfahrung schaffen, bei der Verantwortung und Beiträge in den Seminaren geteilt werden.
