Also this semester we want to think theory and practice together. How can theatrical practice help us in dealing with the climate crisis? We want to grasp narratives, invent stories and understand the agency of our own as well as the collective body as an empowering art practice.
How can we use the interdisciplinarity of the theater in dealing with man-made climate change? How can theater help us to find new narratives in the climate discourse? What part do we in the creative industries and in theater itself contribute to the climate crisis and how can we work more sustainably? What possibilities does performative practice have for activist and artistic engagement with the climate crisis?
We invite different guests who will shift the confrontation with the topic from the desk to the street, the stage, our own bodies. Together we want to understand contexts and possibilities of action in the time of climate crisis through workshops, theater visits and theoretical inputs.

Auch in diesem Semester wollen wir Theorie und Praxis zusammendenken. Wie können wir die Handlungsmöglichkeiten theatraler Praxis in der Beschäftigung mit der Klimakrise nutzen? Wir wollen Narrative verstehen, Geschichten erfinden und die Handlungsmacht des eigenen sowie kollektiven Körpers als kraftvolle Kunstpraxis begreifen.
Wie können wir die Interdisziplinarität des Theaters im Umgang mit dem menschengemachten Klimawandel nutzen? Wie kann uns Theater helfen, neue Narrative im Klimadiskurs zu (er-)finden? Welchen Teil tragen wir in der Kreativbranche und im Theater selbst zur Klimakrise bei und wie können wir nachhaltiger arbeiten? Welche Handlungsmöglichkeiten hat die performative Praxis zur aktivistischen und künstlerischen Beschäftigung mit der Klimakrise?
Wir laden verschiedene Gäst*innen ein, die die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema vom Schreibtisch auf die Straße, die Bühne, den eigenen Körper verlegen. Zusammen wollen wir durch Workshops, Theaterbesuche und theoretische Inputs Zusammenhänge und Handlungsmöglichkeiten in der Klimakrise verstehen.

Requirements for the ungraded Studium Generale credits: active and regular participation & documentation, organization of a joint closing event in the first week of February.

Klasse Klima is an open, autonomous and interdisciplinary group of students and teachers of the University of the Arts Berlin (Universität der Künste Berlin). It started as a gathering of students of the Media Department of UdK Berlin that voiced commonly shared fears facing the climate crisis and a sensed lack to share, reflect and act upon those concerns within their own institution. Klasse Klima’s aim is to politicize our university, teachers, and students towards the facing climate crisis. Within our own university, we aim to bring the UdK Berlin as a public institution forward to clearly position itself in the struggle of the climate crisis and to remodel its own structures. We want to design and art teaching and practice react to and act upon the climate crisis. Furthermore, Klasse Klima wants to remodel current methods of hierarchical teaching and apply a democratic, communal learning experience where responsibilities and contributions are shared in its seminars. Die Klasse Klima ist eine offene, autonome und interdisziplinäre Gruppe aus Studierenden und Absolvent*innen der UdK Berlin und anderer Hochschulen Deutschlandweit. Ziel ist es, unsere Universität und ihre Studierenden zu politisieren, die Klimakrise in Lehre und gestalterische Praxis zu übersetzen, sowie die UdK Berlin als Institution zu einer öffentlichen Positionierung und dem Umbau ihres eigenen Stoffwechsels zu bringen. Klasse Klima möchte die hierarchischen Unterrichtsmethoden umgestalten und eine demokratische, gemeinschaftliche Lernerfahrung schaffen, bei der Verantwortung und Beiträge in den Seminaren geteilt werden.
