We are in the middle of catastrophic climate change RIGHT NOW. Forests are burning on an unprecedented scale. More and more people are suffering the destruction of their basic living conditions and the changes that were forecast are happening even earlier than expected. Is  the atmosphere an object that we humans are cannot manage? Or are we ourselves the climate we are destroying? Is the earth an active agent in all this? Are we able to cooperate with it in order to (re-)establish a culture of reasonable existence for all? In a series of eight lectures, we will explore options for a new earthly culture. On alternate Monday evenings we will talk informally and discuss freely with each other about the previous week's lecture and other topics that arise.

Der katastrophale Wandel des Klimas ist JETZT. Wir sind mittendrin. Wälder brennen in nie gekanntem Maß. Immer mehr Menschen wird die Existenzgrundlage zerstört und Prognosen treten noch früher ein als gedacht. Ist die Atmosphäre ein Objekt, das wir Menschen nicht in den Griff kriegen? Oder sind wir selbst das Klima, das wir zerstören? Ist die Erde eine Akteurin? Lässt sich dann mit ihr kooperieren, um eine Kultur des gelingenden Lebens mit allen neu zu gründen? In acht Vorlesungen werden wichtige Stimmen einer Avantgarde der Klimadiskussion die Optionen einer neuen Kultur des Irdischen erkunden. An den weiteren Montagabenden werden wir über die Vorträge der Gäste und ggf. über weitere Themen miteinander offen sprechen und diskutieren.

Requirements for the ungraded Studium Generale credits: Regular, active participation in the lecture series and conversations, maybe 2-3 short protocols of the lectures.

AG Klima is the Climate Working Group at the University of the Arts Berlin. It consists of students, teachers and members of staff from all departments. Through regular meetings, the aim is to put the university on a sustainable track, work for climate justice in the institution and incorporate the topic of the climate crisis into the educational programme. Die AG Klima ist eine Arbeitsgruppe der UdK, die sich aus Studierenden, Lehrenden und Mitgliedern aller Bereiche zusammensetzt. In regelmäßigen Treffen wird daran gearbeitet, die UdK auf einen nachhaltigen, klimagerechten Pfad zu bringen sowie die Klimakrise in das Bildungsangebot zu integrieren.
