The seminar offers an interdisciplinary classroom to reflect on the relationship between artistic and political practice. Acting in-between multiple associations of artistic, political and social work requires finding one's own position and attitude. It is particularly challenging to navigate in-between artistic authorship and political and social goals. For the seminar we want to set focus on the (in-)visibility of our  own standpoints as authors.
We will work on developing new artistic researches as well as through the revision and continuation of existing projects of the participants. The online seminar can be a room for reflection and at the same time allow an insight into the working methods and circumstances of students from other faculties to finally allow new forms of interdisciplinary cooperation. Besides our own suggestions, we will set a thematic emphasis and chose reading material according to the needs of the participants. Within the seminar, artistic works can be created in a political or social context or works in political, social and health contexts, alongside or as part of one's own artistic practice.

Das Seminar ist ein interdisziplinärer Klassenraum und ermöglicht die Reflexion über das Verhältnis von künstlerischer und politischer Praxis. Das Agieren innerhalb eines Spannungsfelds von künstlerischer, sozialer und politischer Arbeit erfordert, seine eigene Position und Haltung zu finden. Insbesondere herausfordernd ist es, zwischen künstlerischer Autor*innenschaft und politischen und sozialen Zielen zu navigieren. Für das Seminar möchten wir einen Fokus auf die Auseinandersetzung mit der Unsichtbarkeit und die Sichtbarmachung des eigenen Standpunkts als Autor*in vorschlagen.
Dafür arbeiten wir entlang neu zu entwickelnder künstlerischer Recherchen sowie durch die Revision und Weiterführung bestehender Projekte der Teilnehmer*innen. Das Online-Seminar kann dabei Reflexionsraum und Werkstatt zugleich sein, die einen Einblick in die Arbeitsweisen von Studierenden anderer Fakultäten ermöglicht und neue Formen der interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit eröffnen kann. Wir möchten neben unseren eigenen Vorschlägen, ausgehend von den jeweiligen Hintergründen der Teilnehmenden, thematische Schwerpunkte setzen und werden im Laufe des Semesters diese mit der Lektüre von Texten vertiefen. Im Seminar können künstlerische Arbeiten im politischen oder sozialen Kontext entstehen oder es kann einer Praxis in politischen, sozialen und gesundheitlichen Kontexten nachgegangen werden, neben oder als Teil der eigenen künstlerischen Praxis.

Leistungsanforderungen für den unbenoteten Studium-Generale-Schein:
Regular and active participation and an artistic/social/political practice or a written reflection.
Regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme und künstlerische/soziale/politische Praxis oder eine schriftliche Reflexion.

Anna Lauenstein,who grew up in Chemnitz and Leipzig, lives and works as an artist and filmmaker in Berlin. She studied Fine Arts with a focus on New Media at the University of the Arts (Berlin) with Prof. Jimmy Robert, Prof. Ming Wong and as „Meisterschülerin“ with Prof. Hito Steyerl. In her exchange semester she was at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens. She also studied Cultural Anthropology at the Humboldt University (Berlin) and the University of Leipzig. In her artistic research she combines artistic as well as cultural anthropological methods and works within the tensions between knowledge, poetics and politics, whereby a decolonial perspective on Europe is central. Her works have been shown e. g. at Kunstquartier Bethanien, the Museum of Photography, Berlin and the BWA Gallery, Wrocław. A DAAD research grant has been awarded to support a collaborative experimental feature length documentary film and she was nominated for the President's Fine Arts Award of UdK. Since August 2020 she is artistic and scientific assistant at Studium Generale.

Leon Vatter, born 1988 in Gelsenkirchen, studied philosophy and political science at the Free University of Berlin and the Universitá di Urbino. Since October 2019 he works as a research assistant for Studium Generale at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
